Amanda The Adventurer is about to bring a frightfully good time to Nintendo Switch from today.
DreadXP, the outfit behind Sucker for Love, is about to butcher your memories of Blue’s Clue. Forget the bright backdrops and happy days of Exploring with Dora, Child star Amanda’s got a terrifying secret for you. Available on Nintendo Switch right now, Amanda the Adventurer is not your average kids TV show. Mixing found footage with chirpy animation, this seemingly simple story is about to uncover a sinister secret. Players picking up MANGLEDmaw Games’ horror will find themselves watching through footage of a long lost children’s TV show. Left alone in the attic and without any reason to worry, you’ll dig into a seemingly innocent series of show and tell shows.
Unfortunately, it seems likely that something is watching back. As you progress through a series of spooky puzzles and bizarre interruptions, it will become clear that there’s a reason this TV series got the axe. Plucky star Amanda and worrisome sheep Woolly seem to be hiding a terrifying secret. It’s up to players to string together clues between episodes to keep a deeply layered, narrative moving forward.
While any 90’s kid might have loved the idea of interacting with their own TV show, things get a little bit too close for comfort with Amanda. A razor sharp script, some ingenious puzzles that trip between worlds, and some full force horror tinged nostalgia make this an unexpected delight. If you’ve got absolutely no idea what I’m talking about, check out the trailer for this release above and head over to get an entire series of traumatic memories for $8.99 or local equivalent at the Nintendo eShop now.
