After a delay, developer HoYoverse has been on hand with the Genshin Impact Version 4.2 special program, dedicated to the new additions arriving with the upcoming version. Travelers got to learn about the banners, events, quests and more. Let’s dive right in – just make sure to stay away from the Primordial Seawaters!
In Version 4.2: Masquerade of the Guilty, the story of Fontaine reaches its peak in the new Archon Quest. To prevent the catastrophe from destroying the nation, Fontaine will need all hands on deck, including the mysterious Fatui Harbinger Arlecchino. The update lands on November 8th.
Among other things, the team has confirmed what so many players have been waiting for: Version 4.2 will feature Furina’s character banner in the first half. It’s time to add Hydro to the all-Archon team! Additionally, the version will see a number of reruns as well as addition of a new 4-star character: Charlotte who joins Furina and Baizhu in the first half.
The second half of the patch offers a treat for all the husbando-collectors, bringing two beloved characters back into spotlight: Sumeru’s Cyno and Inazuma’s Kamisato Ayato.

The respective 5-star signature weapons will also make an appearance: Splendor of Tranquil Waters (Sword), Jadefall Splendor (Catalyst), Staff of the Scarlet Sands (Polearm) as well as the Haran Geppaku Futsu (Sword) respectively in the order above.

- Lil’ Fungi’s Fun-Tastic Fiesta event – In a corner of the Quartier Lyonnais, an old friend has set up a booth, and is promoting an improved tabletop game. Among Fontainians, who rarely see Fungi, this game is quite novel indeed.
- Graph Adversarial Technology Experiment Log event – You and Paimon encounter a strange engineer. She is currently researching the profound subject, and urgently requires the help of Adventurers…
- Misty Dungeon: Realm of Water event – Master the Ley Line features and put together the strongest party.
- Ley Line Overflow – Blossoms of Wealth and Blossoms of Revelation yield double rewards.
