Get A Good Look At Gord

Team 17 just announced a new singing today and dropped a teaser for the upcoming fantasy title Gord.

While publisher team 17 is well enough known for boisterous titles like Moving Out and Worms, the UK outfit has just signed something a little darker to their upcoming list of games. Dropped alongside a new trailer, titled “The Prayer”, we got the news that Covenant.dev’s inaugural adventure will come into the team 17 roster. As a studio helmed by former Witcher 3 producer, Stan Just, and counting alumni from CD Projekt RED (The Witcher 3), 11 bit studios (Frostpunk), and Flying Wild Hog (Shadow Warrior 2), we’re expecting great things.

Thankfully, the new trailer gives us a positive feel for what’s to come. While this teaser only gives a short look at Gord, we do know that this will be a dark fantasy experience, set in a world filled with primordial gods hellbent on their own agendas. Between the strange deities and monsters, players must work to lead the Tribe of the Dawn as they strive to establish new settlements and explore eerie forbidden lands. The settlers of this land will need to complete quests to grow the tribe’s settlements (known as ‘gords’) and fortify these from invaders, all while managing the minutia of their global population. Fail, and the game’s unique sanity system will likely have a devastating impact on the mental and physical wellbeing of your population. Sounding like a fit between Witcher lore and Frostpuunk’s strategic scenarios, Gord comes with plenty of passion from the team behind it:

“Gord is our debut game as a studio, and we’re thrilled to have Team17 as our publishing partner. They have an excellent global track record and have repeatedly proven that they care about smaller teams and helping them realize their vision. Gord is an unapologetically dark and sometimes quite confronting game; Team17 has been hugely supportive in helping us bring it to life and home in on what we really feel makes our world special. We look forward to sharing more soon.”

If you’re interested in venturing out into the wilderness, taming the land, fighting off invaders, wrestling with the ills of gods and men then Gord is worth watching. You can find out more about Gord over on the official Steam Store page before it arrives on PC later this year.
