Hyper Scape, Ubisoft Montreal’s brand new urban battle royale is now in open beta and you can get in on the action without delay.
This weekend saw Ubisoft host its very own Ubisoft Forward direct to consumer show and outside of the big-budget franchise releases, saw Hyper Scape take the stage. Hyper Scape is a relatively recent addition to the Ubisoft library, launching an announcement trailer at the beginning of July. Building on some positive hype surrounding the title, Ubisoft announced that Hyper Scape is now in Open Beta. This means players can jump straight into this free-to-play fast-paced urban battle royale first-person shooter.
Hyper Scape might initially sound like a quick cash grab on an already saturated genre. With 100 contestants descending upon the virtual city of Neo-Arcadia to shoot it out for glory and loot, you might wonder why bother? Well, Hyper Scape comes with a very cool aesthetic and a bunch of tweaks on the traditional genre tropes. As well as a bog-standard last man standing battle royale, you will find a 3-player squad mode. The Open Beta also adds two new limited-time modes: Hack Runner Squad and Turbo Mode Squad. The announcement also crams in a new hack and weapon, Shockwave and Harpy.
More than the modes of play or the innovative hacks that players can loot from around the world, Hyper Scape appears to be built with streaming in mind. The Twitch integration that weaves its way through Hype Scape allows viewers to tune in and have a real impact on the outcome of a game. The Crowncast Twitch extension provides the option for streamers to invite viewers directly into their squad from Twitch chat and the Viewer Events can trigger modes such as Low Gravity, or Infinite Ammo.
With fast-paced combat,m across a map the varies from street to street, and a game that seems to be built to be unpredictable, Hyper Scape might very well manage to survive in a battle for gaming dominance in a cutthroat genre. Check out the Hyper Scape Open Beta on PC by heading over to the official Hyper Scape website now. Console players on Xbox One and Playstation 4 will need to hang fire for now, but you can still get a glimpse of the action over on Tiwtch while you wait for a full release date.
