While everyone else in gaming is celebrating icky-gooey love stuff for Valentine’s Day, Borderlands 3 players are showing that they are made of tougher stuff. No roses and candies for these folks, no sir. Players will be taking part in Broken Hearts Day just to show how truly badass they really are.
The event challenges players to assist Maurice with his “ongoing study of the human condition” and the “species’ courting rituals”. Players are sent off to shoot down floating hearts that are swirling around enemies across the galaxy. The best part is that it all takes place during regular Vault Hunter business. Hearts can explode dangerously or they may drop loot or even turn an enemy into a short-term friend. Maurice will know how many hearts players have destroyed along their journey and will reward them appropriately.

The event kicks off later today and runs through February 20th. However, “if you don’t want to take part, you can opt-out of the Broken Hearts Day event from the main menu after pressing Play, but when you join an online game, the host player’s settings will determine whether or not the event is active”.
