Latest Update To GOG Galaxy Client Marks The End Of Beta Stage

The GOG Galaxy received a new update that brought in a variety of features and marked the end of beta test for the application. Players can look forward to user-functionality upgrades such as screencaps, chat improvements and more. The client also introduces Universal Cloud Save feature.

What is GOG Galaxy?

It is a game client that provides users with such features as DRM-free backups, updates, rollbacks, cross-platform play and more. GOG Galaxy is completely optional to use and provides customization of the application to suit players’ needs.

One of the biggest updates coming in version 1.2 is the feature of Universal Cloud Saves. All players know the torment of losing game progress for one reason or another, and GOG is here to back you up. The saved files are also not locked behind a platform.

Piotr Karwowski, Managing Director at GOG.com elaborates on Universal Cloud Save feature:

Losing your save files can be really frustrating. And a big part of gaming legacy, including many of the greatest games, was missing cloud saves – until now. Thanks to the Universal Cloud Saves feature of GOG Galaxy, not only new games, but also the all-time classics and titles which development has been finished years ago, will be upgraded with saves syncing and cloud backup.

GOG Galaxy users can also look forward to new customization options. It is up to players to decide what features they want to use. Additionally, new update optimizes Client CPU usage as well as saves recources.

There are many other features coming in the update.Users can look forward to FPS counter, new chat, in-game overlay and much, much more.

Players can test the new client if they opt to do so or wait until it rolls out in April. You can find the full list on the official site.
