Gone Viral Goes Viral Now

Gone Viral, the action roguelike escape adventure with a bloody twist and a tongue in cheek is out now.

After grabbing our attention back in 2019, Gone Viral has graduated out of early access and is now available as a fully-fledged release. The indie hack n slash from Skullbot Games and publisher Akupara, who recently released the much more laid back Behind the Frame, upgraded to version 1.0 as part of the very first Indie Houses gaming event and will set back any future stars $24.99 / £15.49 or local equivalent, although you’ll be able to catch a significant 30% discount for the launch week.

For anybody that didn’t catch out very early impressions of Gone Viral, this cartoon physics-based barnstormer of an escape attempt manages to drop players into a post-apocalyptic world where out and out violence is almost as popular as social media. Coming from a studio headed by ex Wildstar lead Jeremy Gaffney and retaining the same whimsey, this title attempts to quell the unsettled masses by making a sacrifice at the altar of entertainment. Eager players are injected into a maze of terrible traps, exploding rubble, terrible looking enemies, and lots of excessively pointy things.

As a new contestant on the game show of the future, players must blast their way through a series of unknowable obstacles, battles, and traps using their wits and a series of upgradable weapons and abilities. Assuming they manage to stay alive then they can spend their time in this roguelite winning over the fans who will sometimes airdrop the odd upgrade to help keep the violence going.

Gone Viral is all randomly generated levels, over-the-top violence, and physics-based combat wrapped up into the sort of humor that should prove entertaining even when your ratings flag. You can check out the official launch trailer above to get an idea of what exactly is in store for anybody brave enough to become a star or head over to the official Steam Store page now.
