THQ Nordic has announced the formation and incorporation of Alkimia Interactive, a brand new studio located in Barcelona, Spain. The studio’s formation is the next step in the chain of events being forged to bring the Gothic Remake project to life. The studio started operation in mid-2020 with a “team of passionate RPG developers” and is ready to expand by bringing new developers into the fold.
The Gothic Remake project is the first item on the studio’s docket. It is being targeted for PC and next-gen consoles and will include all of the features that modern gamers expect. Over the next couple of months, Alkimia has plans to showcase what has already been completed.
“We strive to build Alkimia Interactive as a top-notch RPG studio”, said Reinhard Pollice, Studio Head at Alkimia Interactive. “Our ambition is to become one of the best addresses for PC/Console core game development in the South of Europe.”

In 2001 a legendary game series was born: Gothic! In 2019 the series became part of THQ Nordic and being fans of the original games we began thinking and experimenting with what could be done. While exploring we realized Gothic is still iconic but simply remaking it wouldn‘t work.
