Granblue Fantasy: Versus, the new fighting game from Arc System Works and Cygames, is following up its fighting fury with a brand new RPG mode, and there’s a new trailer to celebrate.
Following on from the latest incarnations of Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, the Arc System Works and Cygames teams set out to test players, power, skill, and spirit in a quest to find the true champion of the ring. Featuring a range of fighters from across the Granblue franchise, Granblue Fantasy: Versus features the same intense combat that we’ve come to expect from the Blazblue creators with all same anime fantasy aesthetic that makes Granblue so charming.
New Granblue
Players jumping into the ring with this 2D fighter will come up against swordsmen, knights, and spectral warriors to name a few. Granblue enthusiasts will probably recognize some of the original game’s combat as they utilize Skybound Arts in order to overcome their opponents. In addition to all the usual beat ’em up action, the latest trailer teases an interesting RPG system. As players progress through an original story mode, epic boss battles and beautifully animated cut scenes mingle among the chaos. Granblue Fantasy: Versus will even ape the training system that fully-fledged fans of the Granblue RPG will recognize.
We don’t have a ton more data about the new story arc, suffice to say that Gran, Vyrn, and Lyria are in for an awesome adventure. Granblue Fantasy: Versus is in development for Playstation 4 consoles and will be playable at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany at the end of the month. Until we have a date for the final bout of testing, you can find out more about Granblue Fantasy: Versus over at the official game website now.
