What’s The Fuss
Many of you may have played the digital edition of this atmospheric adventure when it won us over here at Gamespace. This release presents an opportunity to keep a copy for posterity. Gris is the work of Spanish indie developer Nomada Studios and originally released back in December 2018. Its deeply touching story explores an unspoken trauma using minimalist design and some ingenious visual cues. The game follows in the footsteps of other lauded titles like RiME, using an epic score to say more than a voice actor ultimately could. This emotional exploration received a host of critical acclaim when it initially landed and the physical release drops a few extras that are just as special.
The Gris physical edition is accompanied by a gorgeous looking signature edition. Signature editions are not just your everyday collector’s box. These curated collections dispense with the plastic bags and trash toys that you might be more accustomed to and provide gamers with something a little bit special for their homes. The Gris signature edition comes to Nintendo Switch with:
- A hard copy of the game
- A GRIS art book
- A limited deluxe edition vinyl soundtrack
- An exclusive signed painting by GRIS Creative Director Conrad Roset
This edition might come in at the top of your budget but you can still pick up most of these items separately, including the vinyl soundtrack from iam8bit. The GRIS vinyl soundtrack features music by Berlinist–a Barcelona band and producer–spanning across two LPs. The deluxe edition is limited to just 500 copies. It is housed in a 48-inch quad-fold jacket while the open edition comes in a gatefold jacket. Both editions feature album art by Conrad Roset.
If any of this takes your fancy, you can check out more about Gris at the official website or follow up and order some swag at Special Reserve Games.
