Guild Wars 2 Goes Silent On No Quarter Update

Guild Wars 2, the hit MMORPG from ArenaNet, is releasing its next update with no voice actors due to COVID-19.

AnrenaNet dropped the news that the upcoming update to the story of Tyria, titles No Quarter, will arrive without any spoken dialogue. The Seattle based game studio released the news last night and pointed to the difficulties that the studio and its workers have suffered since the global Coronavirus pandemic hit home. A blog post, over on the official Guild Wars 2 website, states that;

“Because the recording studio staff and voice actors who help bring Guild Wars 2 to life are also abiding by shelter-in-place guidance to keep the virus from spreading, we’ve chosen to release the upcoming third episode of The Icebrood Saga without voice acting.”

The news also includes messages from the cast of voice actors that would have appeared in the update, as a nod to the fans. The voice cast, including well known DM Matthew Mercer, not only confirmed that the next episode of the Icebrood Saga is due to be text-only but that voice acting will be added add a later date.

Since 6 March 2020, the staff at ArenaNet have been under work from home conditions, with the main studio closed, in an effort to help stop the spread of Coronavirus. While this has clearly had an impact on some areas of operation, the game has otherwise moved on with the Icebrood Saga: No Quarter update otherwise expected to land early next week as part of the game’s normal update cadence.

For those of you ready to get out and save the future of Tyria, make sure you’re caught up on the last update, Vision’s of The Past, or log in to unlock it for free before next week when we will be getting in to hunt Jormag again.
