Evanesco is one of the transfiguration disappearing spells from Harry Potter and it seems that Niantic will be using it on Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. According to the development team, the game will cease operations for good on January 31, 2022. The AR title will be removed from Google Play, Samsung Galaxy Store, and Apple App Store on December 6, 2021.
The Niantic blog about the game ending stated, “Not all games are meant to last forever. Our goal with Harry Potter: Wizards Unite was to bring the magic of the wizarding world to life for millions of players as they stepped outside and explored their neighborhoods. We accomplished that together, delivering a two-year narrative story arc that will soon complete.”
According to the blog post, several gameplay changes will be implemented starting today and a number of events will take place between now and the game’s closure.
