Hearthstone Battlegrounds - New Heroes, Balance Changes & More

Battlegrounds, the latest addition to Blizzard’s card game Hearthstone, is sowing more chaos with a new update.

Bob the Bartender managed to rope in some new heroes into his tidy tavern:

  • Sindragosa – Stay Frosty: At the end of your turn, Frozen minions get +1/+1.
  • Elise Starseeker – Lead Explorer: When you upgrade Bob’s Tavern get a Recruitment Map.
  • Brann Bronzebeard – Battle Brand: When you play a Battlecry minion, give a random friendly minion +1/+1.
  • Sir Finley Mrrgglton – Power Up!: Give a random friendly minion +1/+1. After you sell a minion, refresh this.

To make way for some new challengers, the Heroes below have left Hearthstone Battlegrounds at this time. These heroes may return in a future update.

  • King Mukla
  • Giantfin
  • Millificent Manastorm
  • Lich Baz’hial

The team has also buffed both Demons and Murlocs by moving Primalfin Lookout, Voidlord and Coldlight Seer down a tier while nerfing Junkbot that was a bit too strong for Tier 4 and has been moved up to 5.

We’ve made adjustments to the number of points given for first place. In the original system, you got 240 points for a first place on your first game, and 24 pts for a first place on your 150th (or later) game. Now, you will get 190 pts for a first place on your first game and 95 pts for a first place on your 150th (or later) game.

The next update is coming in early December and will likely contain more balance changes, a new heroes rotation, two new minions that are currently in the works (King Bagurgle, a brand-new card, and Floating Watcher, which you may recognize from the Goblins vs. Gnomes set), and the first iteration of the Stats feature.
