Hi-Rez Studios, creators of the beloved MOBA “Smite“, has announced a “groundbreaking remote work policy” called Creativity Unchained. After a year of working on game development for the past year during the COVID-19 pandemic, studio leaders realized that there are newer, more modern, and better ways to work.
“The pandemic has taught us new ways to work that we believe are superior to our previous way of operation,” said Stewart Chisam, CEO of Hi-Rez Studios. “This is a talent-based business, and we want to meet the best talent where they are as we build a culture of freedom and responsibility for our creative staff so we can achieve victory, together.”
Under the new Creativity Unchained, over 80% of employees can be allowed to work remotely utilizing best practices in a collaborative, creative environment. In the initial push to open up the program, developers in the US and in the UK can work from most locations in their country. The goal is to expand the program across the EU as well. Under the new guidelines, jobs will allow for flexible hours with employees able to decide their work location and mix of office to remote hours.
“We want to offer employees a great balance between work and life, while also offering the best opportunities to create great games with amazing people, sharing their creative work with tens of millions of players across the globe,” Chisam said. “Our games are global, and we should be as well.”
Hi-Rez Studios is based in Atlanta and develops multi-platform games including Smite, Paladins, Realm Royale, and Rogue Company. Check out the official site to learn more.
