honkai impact 3rd

Honkai Impact 3rd is on a collision course and it’s estimated landing zone is the PC market. MiHoYo is bringing its massive mobile RPG to PC at EGX Berlin.

If you play mobile games, have a passing interest in anime, or just watch Youtube then you’ve probably heard of Honkai Impact 3rd. The free to play 3D RPG blew up on the mobile scene. Originally releasing back in 2016, the game eventually came west and found a very particular audience. After downloads that can be calculated in the tens of millions, the team behind this anime-inspired experience is making the jump onto the big screen.

For those that haven’t heard of Honkai Impact 3rd, this title follows the fate of squad of young girls as they fight to protect humanity from all sorts of evil. Opening on a peaceful world, the Hoonkai has re-emerged and taken hold of an unprepared planet. This force of nature is known for annihilating human civilizations in the past and something has to be done. Players take on the mantle of captain in the Hyperion, leading this elite squad of anime soldiers against the forces of the Honkai in a series of instanced battles across the world. Like any mobile RPG, Honkai Impact 3rd includes a range of instanced PvE encounters, raids, upgrades, characters, and a narrative arc. While this sounds a little derivate, the game revels in its anime influences and incorporates an active 3D combat system that makes it stand out among competitors.

Players desperate to get a hands-on can head over to the EGX Berlin site to find out about tickets to the 1-3 November expo. For the rest of us, we will need to wait until a release date and business model is announced for the game. How it will do up against other fully formed online RPGs like ESO, Kurtzpel, or Soulworker is yet to be seen. For more info on the port take a look at the official website.
