Sony has confirmed that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC and it will land sometime in summer 2020.
Speaking on a Playstation Blog, Playstation’s Worldwide Studio’s President confirmed that the acclaimed RPG will be with us PC players shortly. Hermen Hulst was speaking via the Sony platform, answering questions around a range of topics, from the recent release of Dreams to upcoming TV projects, when he confirmed the news.
“Yes, I can confirm that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC this summer…. There will be more information coming from Guerrilla, from the new studio directors [Michiel van der Leeuw, JB van Beek, and Angie Smets] pretty soon.”
The confirmation comes almost three years after Guerilla launched the Playstation exclusive on the Playstation 4, and a few months after we heard some rumors on the issue. While PC gamers will finally be able to get a taste of what they’ve been missing in humanity’s far flung future, do not expect this port to be the norm.
“ to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC. In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance. We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware.”
This might be unfortunate when compared to the Microsoft strategy of cross platform co-operation but Redmond does have a foot in both console and PC camps. Sony, do not.
Still, the tale of a post apocalyptic future where giant robotic dinosaurs graze the became an almost instant hit when it arrived on consoles and I can predict the same again. The engaging lead character of Alloy, a fantastic narrative, and some awe inspiring graphics can’t help but improve with the power that a PC can pack. If you can’t wait to get into the long grass and hunt down some Scrappers then keep an eye out here for more information when it arrives.
