The PlayStation Blog has a new post from Capcom’s Yuri Araujo to announce a special collaboration event between Monster Hunter World and Horizon Zero Dawn. From now through January 10th, players can take part in “this multi-part crossover” a chance to craft the Light Bowgun called the Stormslinger Prototype.
Horizon Zero Dawn Art Director Ray Postma says of the weapon, “The Improved Stormslinger started out as an upgrade to the spear that the Banuk shaman Ourea wields in the Horizon Zero Dawn DLC expansion, The Frozen Wilds. For the design, we took the technical parts from that spear and arranged them on a ropecaster framework, which allowed us to plausibly extend its power capacity. Using the concept of “the more power the better” as a guiding principle, we then strapped together additional capacitators and wired all the technological parts together.”
To earn this weapon, players will need to hunt Zinogre, a “thunderous beast” in the Hoarfrost Reach in Iceborne. Players will need to be Master Rank 24+.
Players can also earn some flair during the event that is similar to a weapon pendant called Aloy’s Focus device.

About Horizon Zero Dawn
In a lush, post-apocalyptic world where nature has reclaimed the ruins of a forgotten civilization, pockets of humanity live on in primitive hunter-gatherer tribes. Their dominion over the new wilderness has been usurped by the Machines – fearsome mechanical creatures of unknown origin. Horizon Zero Dawn is an exhilarating new action role-playing game exclusively for the PlayStation 4 System, developed by the award-winning Guerrilla Games, creators of PlayStation’s venerated Killzone franchise.
