Mattel and Milestone have released a series of videos that provide Hot Wheels Unleashed fans with a first look at the Track Builder feature. Using Track Builder, players can build, design, and even share their custom courses once the game launches in September. According to the dev team, this is the same toolset that game designers have used to create HWU itself.
Lead Game Designer Federico Cardini shows off the Track Builder’s basic features and walks through the steps to make a cool if simple, track. With time and practice, he says, players will be able to “create crazy tracks in an extremely easy way”. Players begin by choosing one of the available environments and then can mix and match any of the obstacles and objects to create “dynamic and unpredictable races”.
Players will also have the chance to bring their tracks to the next level, thanks to the special Track Builder Modules. More than 20 amazing modules are available, such as T-Rex Escape, Spider Ambush, and Hungry Cobra to make the tracks even more unique, insane, and challenging.
During the dev stream, some new vehicles were announced including the 24 Ours, Off-Duty, Supercharged, RocketFire, Street Creeper, Surf ‘N Turf, and Tricera-Truck.
