The Housemarque team is the star of a new behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of Nex Machina. The film gives viewers a look at both the highs and lows of making a game. It’s truly a one of a kind experience.
Housemarque is the star
The company recently published its game called Nex Machina for PS4 and PC. While players are enjoying their time in-game, the cycle for creating it has been something of a roller coaster.
This is a candid look into what went on behind the scenes for the game’s announcement at PSX 2016 in Los Angeles. It shows the pressures of showing off a game to an audience for the first time and the drama of grappling with builds fresh out of the box. But not without Eugene Jarvis and Harry Krueger taking some time to discuss game design philosophy in the process.
To show off what the full-length film called Nex Machina – The Name of the Game will ultimately become, a “featurette” has been released on YouTube. It is only a part of the documentary, but provides a first look at the development process and a taster for things to come.
The game is a top-down shooter with roots firmly in the best games of the past. Players are given a chance to play the way that best suits their style as well as be challenged. As the team says, “It’s what arcade games deserve to be in the 21st Century”.
