Hyenas, the smash and grab game of space piracy from Sega, has announced alpha testing will begin on 14 July.
Sega and Creative Assembly just pulled the trigger on a very different type of looter shooter today with the news that Hyenas is to begin alpha testing on 14 July. The news that this upcoming FPS is set to give space pirates across players in North America a chance to get their first taste of the action just dropped, and we are defiantly hyped. After initially announcing this run and gun caper during June 2022, the alpha will unlock Doctor Hotfix, The Pro, Commander Wright, and others to be announced. Along the way you will experience a unique world and provide feedback that will shape this PvPvE experience.
For anybody that didn’t get the brief. Hyenas is more than an over the top shooter, although it is pretty heavily stylized. Developed by the team behind Alien: Isolation and Halo Wars 2 and drawing inspiration from some of the most successful shooters, it comes crashing headlong into a space faring bank heist. Set in a world where the elite left us to rot, and the only use for the old world is as a scrapyard full of pop culture kitsch, players picking up a weapon will join up and enter an encounter as 5 separate teams. With three players a piece, each team must fight over Merch; pop culture loot protected by security systems and hired goons on giant spaceship shopping malls called Plunderships. It’s all about getting the best loot, just like Comicon with ridiculous power ups and massive guns.
Hyenas will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC in 2023. Until then, you can register your interest in some early action by signing up for the alpha testing on the official website now.
