If you’re like me odds are you are really excited at the idea of a new Fallout game. I can’t count how many times I check in on the 24-hour teaser stream just hoping for a glimmer of information. Needless to say, I’m beyond giddy for another trip into the nuclear wastelands of a Fallout RPG. However, one thing I DON’T LIKE – waiting for it to release. We aren’t even to E3 yet to get details let alone facing a release date. But no need to despair! The modding community has your back!
Fallout: New California is a gigantic mod for Fallout: New Vegas that has been in development since 2013 – and we finally have a much-coveted release date. It will be released on October 23 of this year and offer a brand new, original story with 12 unique endings and 16,000 lines of voiced dialogue. It is freaking massive.
Players will be able to sign up to play a beta in July and experience the main quest, which is essentially a prequel to New Vegas. The artwork is complete but the team is still working on sidequests which hints that the goal is to release a small game-sized mod. Fallout: New California is set in the same world as New Vegas but adds new locations (some can be seen in the above trailer) which means you will need to the base game of New Vegas to play.
I don’t know about you guys, but New Vegas is my all time favorite Fallout release to date so I can’t wait to get my hands on this massive mod. You can check out the ModDB page for more information. The mod will also be available on Nexus Mods when it is released and the team will be launching a Discord channel in July for beta testers.
