Iratus is about to Kickstart the Undead Revolt

Iratus

Necromancers get a bit of a bad rap all around. Lords of the undead with dark mysterious powers and general hygiene issues aren’t all they are cracked up to be. Still, what’s a good trope if you don’t use it right? Unfrozen Studios are offering backers the chance to raise their own army as they launch a Kickstarter for Iratus: Lord of the Undead.

Iratus is the titular antagonist of this turn-based RPG, and a thoroughly unpleasant fellow. As a great Necromancer, he is imprisoned for his crimes and it is up to you to perform a jailbreak. As a despicable lord of the underworld, you can raise minions to form your dungeon parties, sending them out to explore the furthest reaches of the world and learn the hard way. Just as this borrows from games like Guild of Dungeoneering, the rest of the game’s mechanics seem to take inspiration from RPG’s like Darkest Dungeon while leaning tonally towards the more macabre, say Dungeon Keeper.

Due out sometime in late 2018, this otherworldly RPG is coming to PC and Mac. Elven reward tiers are already available with the opportunity to get in early on the game’s alpha. If you want on board, head over to the Kickstarter campaign before 21 June PST.

It would be irresponsible of us not to remind you that Kickstarter is not a pre-order service, after the recent failure of the Ossic headphone manufacturer.
