Spooky times are coming. A popular crossover is back, and you’ll find Yo-kai Watch in Final Fantasy XIV Online right now.
Hit MMORPG FFXIV just kicked off a new event that you wont want to miss. After the recent announcements around the Dawntrail expansion, players in Eorzea might not have been expecting the unusual visitors to their realm. Yo-kai Watch is back, giving adventurers the opportunity to interact with some colourful creatures and grab a bunch of loot.
Running right now, this returning event runs up until up until the launch of Patch 7.0 or 26 June 2024. Budding heroes can now leap into a time limited quest by speaking with the poor-heeled youth on the Steps of Nald. Once you have got a Yo-kai Watch and Yo-kai Medallium, head out and start earning event orientated Medals. This event currency can be turned in and rewards like weapons, mounts, and some Yo-kai flavoured minions acquired.
Yo-kai Watch is an already massive media franchise on its own, meaning players might recognize some of the characters they can collect as minions. Fans of the vibrant series will note Jibanyan, Whisper, Noko, Zazel, and more. A total of 17 minions are on offer, but I’m more than a little taken by the Komijiro themed Codex of the Shrine guardian weapon. Alongside this loot, a new Farmer’s Kit is also available, meaning there’s something new for anybody who has already experienced this cross over.
This might not be a world changing moment for Final Fantasy’s MMORPG, but like the Super Adventure Box in Guild Wars 2, it’s great to see a little fun between the odd cataclysm.
