Sony has just confirmed June’s PlayStation Plus games and it looks like we’re going to be warming the turbolasers for some seriously good additions to gaming libraries.
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners can look forward to three new games in their libraries, thanks to Sony’s monthly haul PlayStation Plus games, announced yesterday. As long as you’re signed up to the monthly PS subscription service the following games will be available to keep at no extra cost during June.
Operation: Tango
This PS5 only launch is a cooperative spy adventure, challenging you and a friend to team up online and save the world. You’ll take on dangerous missions in a variety of locations around the globe. Combine skill sets from different points of view – playing either Hacker or Agent – to overcome asymmetrical challenges, working in tandem with only your voice to link you. Teamwork is crucial, and communication is key! Since Operation Tango requires a working mic on both ends of this spy thriller, it’s an even better time to check out the excellent microphone on the new SXFi Air Gamer.
Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown
This PS4 fighter, which you’ll be able to take on using PS5 backwards compatibility too, is something of a remaster of the iconic Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown. The newly updated and reinvigorated iteration of this classic launches on 1 June and jumps straight into PS Plus the very same month. Coinciding with Sega’s 60th-anniversary celebrations, fans of the original can experience the intense martial arts combat, deep strategy, and intricately balanced gameplay of the groundbreaking 3D fighter in stunning HD. New features for 2021 will include custom tournaments supporting up to 16 players and live spectating. Prepare to fight and win!
Star Wars: Squadrons
The final, but probably my headline title for June, is Star Wars: Squadrons. The spiritual successor to the iconic X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter throws players into the cockpit of the space saga’s most iconic spacecraft. As you engage in events unfolding after the Return of the Jedi, you’ll master the art of starfighter combat in frenetic multiplayer space dogfights. This title caused something of a stir when it launched back in 2020, and whether you are ready to establish the New Republic or seek revenge for the Empire, you can do it on your TV or even on PSVR.
