KingsIsle Entertainment has announced the release of the Wizard101 Summer Update that brings a number of updated features and new content into the game. Most notably, new wizards will find a retooled Wizard City including streamlined quests to “make new wizards feel right at home”.

Other notable components of the Summer Update include:
- Adventure Parties allow players to create appointments to facilitate meeting up in game
- Friendly Flag that lets wizards identify themselves as wanting to chat or group up
- Team Up Volunteers who toggle themselves as willing to group up with others and to be able to reach them quickly if they need help
- Beastmoon Monster Mayhem has a new map and monsters to battle
- Deckathalon towers earn players school-themed pets and a trophy for reaching the top of the leaderboards
- Pet Promenade earns points for playing with pets
- the Spiral Scene shows off cool player castles
