Layoffs hit Agents of Mayhem studio, Volition

Agents of Mayhem volition

In a post on Gamasutra, it’s being reported that around 30 staff have been let go from Agents of Mayhem developer Volition. Citing unsatisfactory sales, even the general manager of the studio has been let go as they ponder their next step.

This is a huge shame to me, as I reviewed Agents of Mayhem, and consider it one of this year’s very best games. Apparently, not all critics agreed, as its score sits below 70 on Metacritic.

From Gamasutra:

Multiple sources speaking to Kotaku reported that the studio has laid off 30 employees, including Volition general manager Dan Cermak. The layoffs were, according to those same sources, parent company Deep Silver’s response to unsatisfactory sales of Agents of Mayhem.

These reports are corroborated by a number of Volition staffers who took to social media today to confirm they’ve been laid off. As always, if you or someone you know has been affected by these layoffs, you can email Gamasutra to share your story confidentially.

  1. Sad this game was lots of fun and still has lots of replay ability, I wonder if it just wasn’t marketed properly..
