Riot Games gave their League of Legends community a puzzle to solve that was done by using social media profiles and LoL lore to uncover the mystery. When complete, fans revealed Sentinels of Light, an event that will span all of Riot’s games including LoL, Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics, and Valorant. The event is slated to begin on July 8th in all games.
Sentinels of Light continues Riot’s first multi-month story arc that started in January with Viego’s return in the “Ruination” cinematic. Artwork included in the announcement includes Viego and Gwen who released earlier in the year, as well as familiar League champions Lucian, Senna, and Thresh. The bottom-most figure appears to be our first look at the upcoming “Lost Sentinel” champion Riot has been teasing, as his weapon matches an image shown back in April. Through completing the web puzzle, players discovered his name is Akshan.
During the event, players across the span of games will have opportunities to make an impact on their local level through the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. The last series of in-game events raised over $7 million for the Elderwood Ornn charity.
Developers are promising to reveal more information about how Sentinels of Light will play out in each of Riot’s games over the course of the next couple of weeks.
