Lego just announced a Sonic The Hedgehog set and the release is a gorgeous looking Green Hill Zone homage.
Lego, the plastic brick building company that is having something of a pop-culture resurgence of late has just announced an upcoming release that celebrates one of gaming’s most well-known characters. Hot off the heels of Nintendo crossovers, Lego is going to produce a Sonic The Hedgehog set.
The news that this diorama is making its way to your front room isn’t a complete surprise. The soon to release Green Hill Zone Set first appeared on the Lego Ideas platform. Initially a concept piece, the entry gathered more than 10,000 upvotes from Lego fans and members of the community. The result is a fully fledged slice of the classic green Hill Zone, made up of 1,125-pieces. This includes a Sonic figurine, Moto Bug, Crabmeat, and Dr. Eggman. Alongside the lush green backdrop, the box will contain the obvious power ups, rings, and a Phantom Ruby that fans will recognize.
For those who don’t quite have the pockets or room to build their favorite on screen characters, then there are tons of on screen options with Lego incarnations of Star Wars, DC, Marvel, and more for you to select from this year and next. Anybody eager to pick up the Sonic pack won’t have to wait long. The Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone set will be available to buy on 1 January 2022 and will set consumers back $69.99 or local equivalent. We’d get your running shoes on, however. Stock is likely to be limited and in demand. Check out more over on the Lego website.
