Bungie has announced the commencement of the annual Destiny 2 Guardian Games, this year with all new goodies to earn along the way during the friendly competition. The event began yesterday, May 3rd, and will run through Tuesday, May 24th. This marks plenty of time for players to compete, donate to charity, and collect all the things.
There are 42 teams taking part representing 14 worldwide territories. Players and fans are invited to cheer for their favorite teams as they compete in a number of events. Teams will have a 2-hour window to “earn and dunk as many medallions as they can to rack up points for their class”. Each week, the leaderboards will be updated ahead of being reset each Tuesday. Teams can take home some nifty prizes for Best Team in Class and Best Team Overall.
Players get involved by participating in supporting a charity initiative between Bungie and Direct Relief. Donations can be made via each team’s unique charity link and prizes can be earned for supporting fundraising.
- Donate $25 or more to a favorite team for a brand new Guardian’s Oath emblem
- The person donating the highest amount will receive custom digital artwork of a subject of their choice.
- The team raising the most funds will receive custom digital artwork of their GG fireteam.
