Limb lopping is going to be a big feature in The Surge. In a brand new trailer, Deck 13 shows off how players will target, loot and equip all sorts of grisly things. Want those gloves? Then you’ll need to hack off a hand. Get it?
How does limb lopping come into play?
As mentioned above, you’ll get access to different loot depending on where it is on your enemy. First you’ll hack and slash in moves that include both horizontal and vertical attacks. Depending on what part is…er…removed, you’ll score armor parts, salvage materials as well as the chance to receive a weapon.
But here’s the rub: If you want a fast fight, you almost have to go for the soft uncovered areas of your foe. If you want a longer, more difficult fight for that gear, well, you know what to do. It’s all risk and reward.
The toughest enemies drop the most powerful weapons and armor, so if you see a piece of equipment you like, you’ll need to fight hard for it―or die trying.
