Just when you thought there couldn’t possibly be more mechanical keyboards coming out on the market Logitech is here to prove you wrong. In a press release dated June 12th, Logitech G formally announced the new G512 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard and a new mechanical gaming switch option, the GX Blue.
The G512 takes queues from both the G413 and G513 to deliver a high-performance mechanical gaming keyboard at a more friendly price, $99.99. Buyers of the G512 will have three switch options available: Tactile, Linear and the new GX Blue. In addition, the more expensive G513 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard will now have the option for GX Blue switches so more people can clickity-clack to their heart’s content.

Anyone familiar with mechanical keyboards will know the different flavors of switches but in short, Tactile offer a little haptic feedback when the switch actuates, Linear is just a smooth keystroke absent of feedback, and the GX Blue will offer booth a haptic feedback and audible “click” during actuation. The Tactile and Linear switches utilize Romer-G switches.
The G512 will, of course, feature RGB lighting powered by Logitech G’s LIGHTSYNC technology allowing 16.8 million colors of customization across four lighting zones using the Logitech Gaming Software. In addition, the G512 features a premium design and rigid durability as a result of an anodized and brushed ‘aircraft-grade’ 5052 aluminum top case and a USB passthrough.
Pricing and Availability
The Logitech G512 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with choice of Tactile, Linear or GX Blue key switches are expected to be available on logitech.com and at select retailers in the Asia Pacific beginning June 2018 for a suggested retail price of $99.99. The Logitech G513 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with GX Blue key switches are expected to be available in the United States, Canada, and select countries in Europe beginning June 2018 for a suggested retail price of $149.99. The G Hub early access is expected to be available in July 2018.
