Developer Capital Games is cooperating with Middle-Earth Enterprises to create a new Lord of the Rings game. This new title will be a collectible role-playing game called The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-Earth and it will be on mobile platforms.

At first glance, this sounds like a Lord of the Rings version of Galaxy of Heroes. I hope that it is because I loved that game. In the beginning it was a great title and I feel that it needed to be left as it was originally.

The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-Earth is going to try to bring everything we love about the movies, the books, and everything else in the lore, into this new mobile title. It is a new addition to the ever growing mobile portfolio that EA has. It is going to add detailed storytelling, turn-based combat, a huge roster of characters, and it is Lord of the Rings after all.

This will be the first, out of EA’s many LotR titles, mobile game that will be based on the lore of the LotR and Hobbit books.

Electronic Arts Vice President of Mobile RPGs Malachi Boyle stated in a press release, “We are incredibly excited to partner with The Saul Zaentz Company and Middle-earth Enterprises on the next generation of mobile role-playing games. The team is filled with fans of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and each day they bring their tremendous passion and talents together to deliver an authentic experience for players. The combination of high-fidelity graphics, cinematic animations, and stylized art immerses players in the fantasy of Middle-earth where they’ll go head-to-head with their favorite characters.”

Middle-earth Enterprises chief brand and licensing officer Fredrica Drotos added, “We are thrilled to be working with Electronic Arts once again, this time to bring a mobile game solely inspired by Middle-earth as described in the literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien to its fans. It’s an honor to work with the talented Capital Games team whose knowledge and love of the lore is palpable throughout.”
