The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is available now on Amazon’s Prime Video. Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will.
The show builds on Season 1’s scope and ambition, plunging even the most beloved characters into a rising tide of darkness and challenging each to find their place as the world draws ever closer to the brink of calamity.
“Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all… each other.”
On Metacritic, the new season has earned the rating of 66/100 based on 18 critic reviews. Meanwhile, Rotten Tomatoes gave it 86% of freshness, drawing from 42 reviews. The critics note that Rings of Power improves in Season 2 in a variety of ways such as giving more breathing room to its characters, however, it still takes the season a while to get going.
