Forget escaping to the sun this year, just try getting out in one piece as Maid of Sker launches on Pc, Xbox One, and Playstation 4 now.
While I just cancelled my own trip to east this week, is seems staying at home might sometimes be the best choice as developer Wales Interactive released a brand new survival horror yesterday. Arriving on Xbox one, Playstatoin4, and PC, Maid of Sker is a disturbing horror that steeps itself in Welsh folklore. Inviting players back to 1898 for a stay in the decidedly uninviting Sker Hotel, this particular title finds players stumbling into a residence where torture, slavery, piracy, and a supernatural presence are all guests.

Leaning heavily on the tales of Elizabeth Williams, Maid of Sker is something of an old school horror, with none of the hack and slash of more action orientated titles, or the competitive elements of Dead by Daylight. Instead, players trying to check out unnoticed by the staff will need to use sound to their advantage, listening for the twisted horrors that walk the floors of the Sker.

While not disturbing in quite the same way as the unfortunate and seemingly ill-judged FMV Gamer Girl, Maid of Sker looks to be a slick and terrifying stay in the countryside where you’ll have nothing but your wits to keep you from a gruesome fate.
