Marvel Rivals Season 1 Begins as Eternal Night Falls

Netease reveal new maps, a new villain, and a fantastic set of heroes coming to Marvel Rivals Season 1.

Get ready for some superhero action when Marvel Rivals’ first round of post launch adventure comes to screen on 10 January. The developer behind this uniquely themed arena shooter has revealed that players are about to face a new big bad and see New York in a different light. During a developer update, which you can catch on YouTube, Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong introduced players to Eternal Night Falls.

Players picking up the fight will face off against the prince of darkness. Dracula reigns over the realm of New York City and it’s up to players to save this thread in a series of fractured timelines. While eternal night looms over this city and the Darkhold causes chaos, players can experience the first chapter in an epic saga across a fractured multiverse in mere days.

Content

Aside form beating back Dracula, players can expect a total of 3 new maps, a n extra game mode, some fantastic character additions, and a new battle pass. The action begins with the release of Mister Fantastic and The Invisible Woman. These two new characters add a Duelist to the action and a Strategist. Mister Fantastic’s cellular elasticity normally allows him to stretch his body beyond all physical limits. In action this gives our favorite stretchy hero some serious range when pushing back the competition across new maps. You can check out the release trailer for Mister Fantastic below and keep a close eye out for the release of The Thing and Johnny Storm later in Season 1.

Maps and more

This new content drop includes a new convoy map called Eternal Night – Midtown and the iconic Sanctum Sanctorum. The Sanctum is another new map, where players enter a reality bending mix of earth-bound backdrops and the Astral Plane. Utilize unique time twisting mechanics and portals to navigate the threats and opportunities, and come out on top of this 8-12 player maelstrom of action. In addition to the new maps, expect a new Arcade Mode, title Doom Match.

A new Battle Pass also drops with Season 1. The upcoming Battle Pass will set players back 900 Lattice. We already know it includes 10 new skins for the assorted heroes, and anybody shelling out can earn back around 600 Lattice and 600 Units as they clamber through the content.

If this quick glance at what’s coming in Marvel Rivals has you hyped for more action with Earth’s mightiest heroes, then head over to the official website and check out the content before it drops across PC and console on 10 January.
