Before you suit up as Samus once again, hold onto your cash. Metroid Dread just got a free demo.

Out now on Nintendo Switch and taking a very different twist on the traditional Metroid adventure, Metroid Dread is just got a brand new demo. Taking aim with the galaxy’s prime bounty hunter, players picking up Metroid Dread will find themselves up against an army of utterly tireless cold mechanical contraptions as they race to escape the depths of plant ZDR. However, before you go ahead and splash out for the full game, it seems Nintendo has dropped a Halloween treat for Switch owners over on the eShop.

Available now, the demo for Metroid Dread gives players a chance to try out Samus’s latest without having to stump up the cash for the full game. The demo went live last night, with an announcement on social media, so there should be plenty of time to get in and blast some robots this weekend.

 

If you weren’t aware of Samus’ return in Metroid Dread then this well received new adventure dropped earlier in October and has managed to rouse up plenty of critical acclaim. For players following the franchise, this time Samus finds herself on planet ZDR, facing a mysterious foe that traps her in this dangerous world. After the remote planet is overrun by vicious alien lifeforms and murderous robots called E.M.M.I. this seasoned hunter must avoid becoming the hunted in a title described as ‘Samus’ most intense side-scrolling adventure yet.’

With a download cost of around $60 or local equivalent, the new Metroid Dread demo seems like an unusually reasonable deal. Anybody looking to try before they buy can find out more on the official announcement now.
