There are some new updates available for Metroid Dread right now. The new patch 2.1.0 has been released and we now have three new modes. The modes are Boss Rush, Survival Rush, and Dread Rush. There was also a small general fix for the title for the game over screen.
The three modes are as follows.
Boss Rush: Player will compete against 12 bosses continuously shooting for the best time they can get. Damage received carries over into the next fight and weapons will be restored after each fight. If Samus is defeated there is an option to retry from that boss battle, but you will get a time penalty for your run. You can fight bosses one on one if the choice is made through the practice mode. This mode will not become available until you have defeated the entire game one time.
Survival Rush: In this mode players will see how long they can survive in a 5 minute window. Damage received and weapons used will also carry over into the next phase. Defeating the bosses will add fixed amounts of time to the countdown. If you can defeat the bosses without receiving damage then extra bonus time is given. This mode is activated once Boss Rush or Dread Rush is completed.
Dread Rush: The same rules apply as boss rush, however, if Samus is hit just once the energy is dropped to zero and you lose. It is a mode unlocked by beating the game in Dread Mode.
This promises to be a good update. Check it out and let us know what you think of these modes. Here is the full breakdown from Nintendo.
