Musical Pikmin Style Roguelike Ratatan Ready To Dance

Ratatan brings a stylish musical adventure to PC and console in 2025.

After tearing up Kickstarter this year, the musical mayhem of Ratatan is coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X in 2025. Combining rhythm and side-scroller action that tears through a blistering mix of sights and sounds, this is a stylish return for the creators of cult PSP hit Patapon.

The colorful side scroller is a collaboration between Hiroyuki Kotani, the producer of the renowned series Patapon, released on PSP in 2007, and Tokyo Virtual Theory (TVT). Patapon’s unique gameplay mechanics combine rhythm and strategy elements, where players lead a tribe of mystical creatures called Patapons through rhythmic drum beats to command them in battles and missions.

Now, gamers can take control of the Ratatan. Taking clear inspiration from the adorable Patapon, this bold new title is part rhythm basher, part roguelike, part chaos. Players can move to the groove alone or team up with up to four friends!  Strategize, command a small army of loyal Cobun and engage in huge melee brawls with more than 100 characters duking it out for supremacy. Defeat your enemies by riding the rhythm of Ratatan’s catchy soundtrack while using a range of random poeer ups  at the right time to eliminate your enemies in this delightful, heartfelt adventure!

To get an idea of what’s coming and check out fever mode, have a look at the trailer, above. This might be a magical adventure but it stands apart from the likes of Muse Dash. If you loved the innovative take that games like Cadance of Hyrule took to established concepts then Ratatan is worth a look. Check out the official website for more.

For those of you who I’ve not met yet, my name is Ed. Now, you will find me squawking across a multitude of sites and even getting to play games now and then
