MythForce Is A Saturday Morning Cartoon Series Coming To Early Access

MythForce, a roguelite beamed straight out of the 80s, is set to launch out of early Access on 20 April.

In a time where sugary cereal, CRT monitors, and tenuous TV toy tie ins made Saturday mornings something special, a spark was lit in the souls of a few young prodigies. Given time, they would grow through the decades to become programmers of immense courage and guile, crafting a game embodies a lost age. Maybe we should just say that MythForce is an awsome looking new roguelite inspired by the peak of 80s Saturday morning cartoons.

Due to land on Epic’s early access later this month, MythForce is a blisteringly bright new take on the roguish genres, utilizing colorful swords & sorcery in gripping first-person combat. Swinging its way through a range of dungeons, this title will begin its journey with four playable heroes. All rendered in glorious Technicolor, they will fight their way through MythForce Episode 1: Bastion of the Beastlord, fighting off cartoon enemies. As they, or you, cut through soulless skeletons and other evil doers, these heroes can unlock different perks and upgrades along the way. Whether it’s a better bow or more powerful heals, there will be plenty of ways to overcome the procedurally generated maps. With a gloriously retro aesthetic, plenty of play through options, online co-op, and hopefully a fitting soundtrack, we’re almost as excited as the developers about this one.

“I’m beyond excited to finally show off our team’s original work,” said Trent Oster, Beamdog CEO. “MythForce is pure, unadulterated fun— right out of the Saturday mornings of my childhood. With a simple yet satisfying game loop, it’s a big departure from the RPG classics we’re known for, but the Beamdog DNA is evident if you know where to look.”
