Neverness to Evenness Closed Test Looks More Like A Shonen Anime

Neverness to Evenness unveiled a new look and lore during the latest China Closed Beta Test

Hotta Studio’s upcoming open world anime adventure isn’t all spooks and scares, instead it seems like this supernatural sim is full of laughs. The change of tone from other post apocalypse adventures and serious fantasy raids became apparent during last week’s limited scale Chinese Closed Beta Test.

What’s New

Kicking off on 28 November, the recent look ahead cemented the early assumptions that the fictional city of Hethereau looks utterly phenomenal. The studio behind Tower of Fantasy revealed a bunch of information about their latest game during a new closed test, giving us all a look at an urban environment that winds between the spooky and the everyday. Three chapters of the main storyline and a range of side quests let eager adventurers weave among the sidestreets, where humans and anomalies co-exist. The promise of visual treat seems to be a sure thing thanks to the power of Unreal engine 5.

The new test phased showed off a bunch of distinctive challenges, including new chapter bosses and anomaly commission bosses. These encounters give players the chance to try out the combat in an intense scenario and geta taste of how things wil play out with a range of characters.

Where things really diverge from the norm is the scale of this new city. Players got the chance to become an Omnipresent Cityrunner, unlocking a driving experience. Players were able to peruse New Way Car and purchase or rent cars directly from the roadside.

Wile this all sounds very Zenless Zone Zero, the team behind Neverness to Everness promise that the narrative style will breaks away from traditional serious and heavy tones, and embrace a fresh, light-hearted comedic approach. From what we’ve seen, this seems to lean even more heavily on the sorts of exaggerated anime depictions of silly emotions that are rife in Shonen staples. If you’ve seen the initial teasers and remember the Big Three, you might just be starting to wonder if Hotta have been binge watching the likes of Bleach and Tokyo Ghoul while drawing on similar inspiration to HoYo’s latest. Either way, the rest of the world should get hands on soon enough. Neverness to Everness has already opened Pre-Registrations for multiple platforms over on the official website now.
