No child worthy of their salt passes up an opportunity to honor the strong women in their family on Mother’s Day, even the most famous among us. John Romero is working on the upcoming gangster-themed strategy game “Empire of Sin” and, not only did he push out a new game video in celebration of his great-grandmother, but he’s also giving her a starring role in the game.
The video is centered on Elvira Duarte who seems to have been quite a character. According to John, she was a chain-smoking brothel owner, lottery winner, and an avid bird aficionado. Legend says that she strolled about telling jokes to the green parrot on her shoulder that would spout the punchline to each one. For all her eccentricities, Romero felt that she deserved a place in his upcoming game. She has been cast as a playable gun-toting mob boss complete with a unique mob ability called Devil’s Breath. This allows her to control enemies and force them to kill their allies.
Empire of Sin is due out this fall. Learn more on its official site.
