M2H and BlackMill Games have announced a new first-person shooter game set in their ongoing WW1 game series. Called Isonzo – The Italian Front, the game will be available for PC, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 later in 2021. Isonzo joins two other games in the series, Tannenberg and Verdun.
The game sends soldiers to the southern front to take part in the “titanic clash between the Kingdom of Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire”. Players will be fighting through snow-covered mountains, rugged valleys, and idyllic towns in Northern Italy. The game will feature accurately modeled weapons, uniforms, and sound effects to place players right in the middle of pitched WW1 battles. “Everything in Isonzo down to trench designs and significant landmarks has been recreated from historical sources ranging from films and diaries to modern photographs of the battlefields taken on research trips.”
Players will need to react to battles by choosing their role and loadout. Weapons include everything from bayonets to machine guns to mortars to rifle grenades. Players will also have access to artillery barrages, bombing runs, and lethal poison gas.
