With The Gifted barely upon us, Fox has unleashed a trailer for their new X-Men movie. New Mutants is the latest foray into mutant territory and it looks like Josh Boone’s spin on this ongoing franchise takes a terrifying twist.
New Mutants
Based on a classic Marvel comic series of the same name, New Mutants follows a group of teenagers as they struggle to control their new found powers. A spooky asylum setting, strange experiments, and some less than paternal staff make for a unique take that has more than a few parallels to TV show Legion. One of those staff is Alice Braga’s Dr Cecilia Reyes, who features in this trailer. She is accompanied by a host of characters, including Maisie William’s Wolfsbane and my personal favorite, Magik.
If the trailer is accurate then this movie promises to be every bit as surprising as Logan and will be with us on Friday 13th, April 2018.
