New Star GP is aiming to bring racing games back to the 90’s with thrilling retro motorsports releases later in 2023.
New Star games, the publisher behind Retro Goal just announced a high octane retro racer coming to gaming screens later this year. New Star GP got an initial announcement last night and took a tight turn into the trailer. Once we stopped ogling the brightly colored movement machines, we also noticed that the collection of backdrops is pretty varied. As the biggest title to date out of new Star games, this racer will feature event s from both the 80’s and the 90’s. That’s a total of 56 individual race events taking in iconic racing venues like Brisbane, Quebec and Tokyo.
That’s tons of time and venues to prove your worth when taking on the obligatory Career Mode. Starting in the 80’s, racers will work through a plethora of these challenges while climbing the ranks and upgrading your car. A Championship Mode and split screen couch competitive mode is also expected to roll up on the Early Access grid. This isn’t the first high spec retro racer we’ve seen of late. Formula Retro Racing took to Kickstarter recently, and Hotshot Racing is still on my general rotation too. Thankfully, that hasn’t damped New Star’s enthusiasm.
Simon Read, founder of New Star Games said “New Star GP is about bringing the excitement of 90s arcade racing bang up-to-date with the deeper gameplay elements that the modern gamer expects. I believe we have succeeded in this aim because the team here has created a thing of pure joy!”
While full release is an s bend somewhere across the horizon, Early Access is a lot nearer and anybody interested in the racing sim can keep an eye out on the official Steam Store page now.
