Rockstar has announced that GTA Online will be receiving a much-welcomed content expansion on July 20th. Los Santos Tuners brings new ways for players to engage with one another as well as new races and a metric ton of new vehicles will keep players busy for weeks to come.
GTAO players engaging with Los Santos Tuners will be able to join the “underground tuner scene” that introduces LS Car Meet, a huge underground space where players and their favorite vehicles can gather. While there, players can race for bragging rights, show off their customized vehicles, and find “shady contacts” looking for hot wheels and a willingness to be paid.
To get started, you’ll need to visit a non-descript, graffitied warehouse on the edge of town in Cypress Flats — listen close and the sound of engines revving might give it away, or look for the makeshift finish line on the road outside. Inside, the LS Car Meet has a “good vibes only” policy, making it a great place to skip the attention of the law and any small-time chumps looking to terrorize the citizens of greater Los Santos. Park your attitude (and your weaponized vehicles) at the door and share your love of car culture with some like-minded personalities. Here, you’ll find countless ways to immerse yourself in the beating heart of the scene, show off prized personal vehicles from your collection or check out everybody else’s.
One of the cool benefits is that players who are willing to pony up GTA$500k will be able to join LS Meet as a full member. By doing so, players will receive even more privileges that unlock after each level. Players will have access to the Test Track, be able to check out Test Rides, take part in Prize Ride Challenges with a chance to win a special Prize Ride, and access to a range of unique shops. Lastly, members can create a Private Takeover that offers the opportunity to customize lighting and banner colors to give the Car Meet space a personal touch.
Los Santos Tuners also introduces some new races that also feature leaderboards for the competitive types.
- Test Track
- Head-to-Head races against others in a friendly match of speed and precision
- Scramble pits up to 4 players racing through 20 checkpoints
- Time Trials are just that: Races to rack up a Personal Record while taking on 30 others
- Throughout the city are other opportunities
- Street Race Series with creative tracks complete with shortcuts
- Pursuit Series with checkpoints thinly spread out to “encourage creative routes” while keeping out of the chasing polices’ way
- Sprint lets up to 4 players race to specific points and back as fast as possible
Players will be able to earn Reputation for taking part in races, logging in on a daily basis, working the Test Track, or just hanging around the Car Meet. Reputation earns rewards including gear, car customization options, Trade Pricing on specific vehicles, access to new Race modes, and “even the ability to hold your own private Car Meet”.
No GTAO expansion is worth its salt without tons of new vehicles and there is just that. The car dealers around Los Santos have 17 domestic and imported cars that will be released throughout the summer with 10 dropping on launch day.
