Nickelodeon to Bring VR and AR to Their Network

NICKELODEON

When the competition gets tough you really only have two options, slowly go the way of the Doto or come out swinging. Nickelodeon has opted for the latter and is prepping for a slew of new and returning series (as in over 800 new episodes across its various series). More interestingly Nickelodeon is also implementing VR and AR apps in a hopes to draw kids back to the traditional TV medium.

The company’s Group President noted that despite other avenues for entertainment, TV still has the largest audience. In order to maintain the attention, they are hoping to implement companion apps to create a more interactive experience for the viewer.

Along with these new mobile apps, the company has also announced a new partnership with IMAX to bring Slimzone to select IMAX VR centers around the Globe. The new VR game is being described as a multiplayer, social VR experience but little other details have been shared. A host of other interactive experiences are being planned by the company as they venture into this new medium of blended TV and AR/VR.
