Nier Reincarnation Showcases Combat Trailer

Nier Reincarnation, the mobile Nier title announced by Square Enix April 2020, dropped a new trailer that showcases in game combat.

Due to arrive in time to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the very first Nier title, this mobile action RPG is set to hit android and iOS at an unknown point in the future. Thankfully this first full gameplay trailer gives us an idea of what to expect while we wait. At just under two minutes long, it doesn’t leave a lot of time to make any wild assumptions about what to expect but the teaser does show us a mix of different gameplay types. Combat, more specifically, looks to be loosely based around traditional party focused JRPG tropes with turn based combat allowing each member of the team to take a swing at a hulking robot. At least two distinct classes, damage and healing style characters, appear during the various combat scenes with what appear to be at least two additional special skills. We would imagine both attacking and triggering these skills are touch screen based. All of this awesome looking combat is mixed with a range of 2D and 3D environmental shots that don’t really tell us a huge amount about the rest of the game as yet.

Second Wave

This isn’t the first trailer that we’ve seen for the latest in the Nier franchise, with Square Enix releasing a trailer back in April. This told the story of an unnamed child, and actually not a lot else. We still don’t know a huge amount about the upcoming title of its story line. What we do know is that this will sand apart from both the original Nier title and Nier: Automata. In addition to the on the go adventure, Square is set to release an upgraded version of the original Nier, called Nier Replicant Ver. 1.22474487139. While Nier Reincarnation is set to hit mobiles, the re-release of the first Nier will land on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

For now, you can keep an eye on everything Nier over at the official Reincarnation website and check out the Nier Reincarnation combat trailer above.
