Yesterday Nintendo America announced details about its Nintendo Switch Online paid service that launches this September of 2018!
Nintendo’s Online Service website has been updated with full pricing and feature information. Features include:
- Online Play – cooperative play/battle with players around the world within compatible games such as Splatoon™ 2, ARMS™, Mario Kart™ 8 Deluxe, Mario Tennis™, etc.
- Nintendo Switch Online – enjoy 20 classic NES games, with more to come on a regular basis
- Save Data Cloud backup – Save your data online for easy access
- Nintendo Switch Online app – support for an iOS / Android smartphone app designed to enhance your online experience for compatible games
- Undisclosed future special offers for members
Pricing appears to be modest with “Individual Membership” plans for 1-month, 3 months or a full year with a full year being $19.99. A yearly “Family Membership” (allows for up to 7 gamers) will run you $34.99.
Subscription enrollment will be available in September via Nintendo.com and Nintendo eShop on your Nintendo Switch system, and at select retailers.

I think it’s a decent price for myself. Be interesting to see what the 20 NES games are though. If it’s Zelda and Mario then it’s a no-brainer for me.
