Recent Nintendo Switch 2 images posted on social media sites and replicated on Reddit have got the Internet in a tizzy.
The follow up to the massively successful Nintendo Switch is coming. We all know that much is true. However, gaming fans on the Internet aren’t entirely sure what to expect quite yet. With Nintendo airing absolutely no detail, rumors and speculation are rife, and now we’ve got a whole host of possible leaks from over in China.
Recently released pictures from a user on social media purports to have a design that closely matches the expected configuration of the upcoming Nintendo console. Apparently rendered by a 3D design and print enthusiast in China, the images suggest that a new console could incorporate a larger 8 inch screen, multiple USB-C ports, a redesigned kickstand, and revamped Joycons. The overall look would appear to be similar to existing Switch consoles, but the authenticity of physical copies of these devices is in question.
In a tale that seems to add a multitude of twists, Internet theory is that the leaking party obtained the computer designs from a peripheral manufacturer, and this seems like it could be true. The physical renders and computer images of the apparent second Switch line up closely with leaked and expected specifications. That, however, could simply be by design. Whatever the accuracy of these leaks, it’s an interesting tale played out across social media and Reddit.
The Nintendo Switch 2, or whatever Nintendo choose to call it, is hotly anticipated. The first of this lineage launched to market as a unique hybrid gaming console that offers both handheld and traditional home console gaming experiences. Released in March 2017, the Nintendo Switch stood out for its innovative design, allowing players to seamlessly switch between playing on-the-go in handheld mode and connecting to a TV for a larger screen experience. At launch, the Nintendo Switch was priced at $299. To date, the console has been a commercial success, with over 89 million units sold worldwide as of September 2021. Nintendo has released updated models of the Switch, including the Nintendo Switch Lite, a dedicated handheld version, and the Nintendo Switch OLED model, featuring an improved screen. Some of the best-selling games for the Nintendo Switch include “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe,” “Animal Crossing: New Horizons,” “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” and “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate,” showcasing the console’s diverse library of popular titles across various genres.
