What to Look Out For

If I didn’t already own a copy, thanks to our recent AMD FMFR 4K gaming experiment, I’d be leaping into Guardians of the Galaxy. Developed by Eidos-Montreal and published by Square Enix, this is an action-adventure set in the Marvel Universe, yet entirely separate from the big screen MCU adaptation. Released on October 26, 2021, across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, it was far better received than Marvel’s Avengers and widely acclaimed for its engaging storytelling. Anybody grabbing this freebie will find themselves playing as the infamous Star-Lord and leading the iconic Guardians of the Galaxy team on an intergalactic adventure to save the universe from a cosmic threat. Nothing too unusual for the guardians, and still brimming with engaging gameplay and the witty banter that make these characters favorites in the Marvel franchise.

Elite Dangerous is another big-budget space adventure set to unlock at the end of the month. While Star Citizen continues to funnel money into development hell and  EvE is certainly a foreboding task for new travelers, Elite Dangerous seems to be a much more accessible jaunt into the stars. Picking up the same trek into the cosmos as its name suggests, players can head out into a massive sandbox environment. Travel between the stars, trade, explore, pillage, and learn to dock a spaceship. Try not to annoy the local constabulary, and find out what alien threats await in the deep fathoms of space. Originally launched in 2014, this adventure still attracts plenty of players, despite some recent grumblings about its content updates. It’s gone from a simple trade and explore space sim to a total of three major expansions, allowing players to even set foot on new worlds.

Outside these two big drops, there are plenty of other choices, from future dystopias to total meat grinders. All you need to do to unlock these is to log into your Prime Gaming Account as an Amazon Prime subscriber and claim the codes.

Amazon Luna

Luna updates for November too. The Amazon game streaming service allows players, and Prime Gaming subscribers, to play a library of games for free. All you’ll need is your login and a compatible web browser to load up and start blasting away. The November lineup includes Jackbox Party Pack 7, Saints Row®: The Third™ – Remastered, Moving Out, Endling – Extinction is Forever, and Infinite Minigolf. Players will also have full access to Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition, XDefiant, Fortnite, LEGO® Fortnite, Rocket Racing, Fortnite Festival, Fortnite Battle Royale and Trackmania.

Amazon Luna is available to gamers in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy Spain, Austria, the Netherlands, and Poland. We’re expecting to see some deals this month for Fire-embedded hardware and Luna controllers, but that’s just my Black Friday predictions. You can keep an eye on both Luna and November Prime Gaming giveaways over on the official website now.

For those of you who I’ve not met yet, my name is Ed. After an early indoctrination into PC gaming, years adrift on the unwashed internet, running a successful guild, and testing video games, I turned my hand to writing about them. Now, you will find me squawking across a multitude of sites and even getting to play games now and then
